...conflicts of this nature should not be allowed...

What is the "conflict"? Cheney does NOT work for Haliburton nor does he have any financial interest in them any longer (as required by federal law). Any "compensation" he gets is NOT for services but part of his retirement agreement which in effect is held in trust, and does NOT depend on what contracts are awarded to the company.

And in particular, his "compensation" would continue even without this contract for work on Iraq!

Also, you do great disservive to thousands of Haliburton and government employees by 'suggesting' improprieties in the award process. Independent authorities say Haliburton's Brown and Root subsidiary who was already on the ground in Kuwait for years was the best qualified for the new work.

What company do you say is better qualified to perform the specified work.. or are you saying because Cheney once worked for Haliburton, the company now should be baned from all government contracts thus requiring the 'second best' company to be awarded at higher cost? And perhaps that should apply to any company where an employee leaves and goes into governemnt service?

You and Fat Boy are long on inuendo but short on proving a nexus of wrongdoing and illegality. If you have such information, lay it out! I will assume neither of you has any provable evidence and therefore your posts are merely the usual left wing diatribe and Bush/Cheney bashing...
