This comment is in reference to the posts about South Lakes principal Realista Rodriguez. South Lakes High School is amidst a crisis. Our school is run by an incompassionate, money-crazed, self-serving principal. Mrs. Rodriguez, in her short time at South Lakes, has created more problems than she has solved, created more contempt amongst the students, and has abused her power in several ways. The problems involve her cold nature in dealing with the faculty, pushing several valued teachers away, teachers hardly replaceable. The contempt Mrs. Rodriguez has created in students is irreverseable, treating the classes as a whole like small children. If a problem is created by sophomores or juniors, she's likely to punish the whole school. If the students are upset, if there is an outcry, she is likely to make an un-caring announcement that may even feature an itemized reading from the school's regulation book. Are we cattle? Do we hold that little value? And new policies are introduced in an almost militant manner. How many schools in the county have had almost 4 protests in two years? And the abuse of power...trashcans and benches are obviously a very important use of the funds of the Theatre Arts department. If it was the football team I don't imagine it would be an issue. New doors are a big priority, especially because there was nothing wrong with the existing ones. And the recently installed windows...is there a reason students shouldn't be able to look inside the school? Was it entirely neccesary to abolish the level of natural warmth that clear windows provided through allowing sunlight into the school? Instead of installing new windows and ripping off clubs and art programs to buy benches and trashcans, maybe our loving principal could have fixed up our fantastic central air systems. Cold days are blazing, hot days frigid once you enter the school. I can see that it is very easy for those on the outside to point out the qualifications and records of a person, but most of them haven't experienced first-hand what she is and what she stands for. I hope that you will re-consider your standpoints about Mrs. Rodriguez, and for the other out-crying students, don't let her hold you down.
