From the Town's website:
"The Town Council is seeking public input on the development of the FY 2011 budget at its February 9 Public Hearing. The meeting begins at 7 pm in the Mary Ingram Council Chambers."
The Council for the Arts of Herndon (CAH) will be making comment and once again, asking for a reduction in funds to our operating grant request to the Town, bringing our overall reduction in funding to an approximately 30% decrease over the last two years.
CAH is the only non profit/civic organization in the Town to have voluntarily reduced its grant request to the Town to date. CAH once again has matched Town money with outside and independently raised funds in almost a 6:1 match (we raise $6 for every $1 the Town grants the organization). Due to our fiscally conservative budget planning and aggressive fundraising efforts, CAH has been able to maintain it's level of programming in the town.
CAH encourages all other non profits and other civic organizations that received funding from the Town to consider reducing their request for funding as well, in order to meet the Town's reduced budget for 2011. We all must work together to make ends meet while continuing to provide services and quality programming to our residents. We are proud to make Herndon a wonderful town to live in through the many events we produce and sponsor.
And if you are one of the many thousand residents who have appreciated and enjoyed our events, programs, scholarships and partnerships with other civic groups, schools and churches, we would welcome your comments or statements of support.
