Vicky..We can disagree as to whether John was for all intents a Christian when he penned Revelations. I will contend that what was in his heart is what counts, despite what words he may have uttered at the time(perhaps to avoid condemnation by orthodox Jewish authorities).
In vindication of this position, his divinity was eventually regarded by the majority of the Christian Church as a saint. To me, that makes the argument of Christian or not, a 'difference without a distinction'.
btw.. no, I have not been to “the monestaries in Ireland, or Syria” to study the ancient scripts, and I would bet you have not either. I would contend that your inference as to my scholarship on this subject is not a good argument against my opinion...

As for errors, I'm not sure that all of the evidence is in yet. There was a copy of Revelation shown in the past few years, that seemed to have the number 606 or 616 instead of 666 for the Number of the Beast, leading to a lot of speculation about the way numbers were used to encode names in biblical times, and the name that the number 606 might have been encoding, as opposed to the number 666.
Would an error disqualify a text, and would a disqualified text disqualify the entire religion?
Google search on '606 616 666 Revelation'
Also, what was it that I just saw in the news about some organized crime boss being buried in the Vatican?

606 has my vote for the number of the beast based on the amount of traffic we see on route 606 through Herndon. _________________ "mean-spirited" may be an innacurate way to describe people who want the rules and regulations we agreed to followed. - Breed |
