What was intended originally as a means to foster religious practice has now become a mechanism by which to control actions of churches. I suggest that church's now begin voluntarily relinquishing thier exempt status. In time, that would cause the government to to think twice about heavyhanded tactics or squashing churches in America due to the enormous loss of revenue they would suffer. Modern churches have in many cases, become so instituionalized that focus upon God's work and Christian life has been lost. Church policies are decided it seems by whether or not thier actions would cause them to loose 501c3 status instead of decisions being made simply by what would be the course of action that God would desire for His people.

O - just a thought
